Article #71; The Coal Trains

The Danville County Railroad layout has a lot of trains that run on it, but some of the most common trains that show up on the layout are the coal trains. Loaded and Empty trains run up and down. The photo above shows Norfolk Southern SD60M 6800 backing a empty coal train into the Grovemont Yard. The loaded trains appear at the same location as right here while the empty trains d a run around with the power so the cars or car can head into the yard before the engines/engine.

Article #70: More Backdrops and how it can be Done

This is the 2nd article all about doing backdrops with model trains and we will go over 1 way it could be done and the way it was done in the photo above. The photo above shows Norfolk Southern SD60M 6800 leading a loaded coal train with a nice blue sky. This photo in the background is a composite photo not originally a part of the photo showing the locomotive on the layout. This can be a good way of doing backdrops where you erase the background of the original photo and if 2 pictures like this fit together. The angle here is more so an oncoming angle where you can see the background well. Also getting real photos that fit with the photo on the layout is another key thing. Here is another photo like this and it is of Santa Fe GP3802 3500 with the brakeman standing on the engine ready to go into the yard.

Article #68: A Night around Grovemont

This newest article on the Danville County Railroad Layout is A Night a Grovemont. You will see pics at night at different locations along the layout. From the passenger station to the roundhouse, you will see a few trains as they make their night runs.  Western Maryland #20 on Light Move   Sitting right beside the passenger station is Western Maryland GP7 #20 ready to head out of the yard at Grovemont on a light move. The light move is essentially a work train headed down the line towards one of the other yard's where the trains originate The platform of the station is lit up shining right onto the train. It will meet a local freight up the line after departing. After the Go7 had gone by, we see Alco S3 #6 pulling a local freight back towards the yard at Grovemont. On this photo is is hauling 1 boxcar past the main railroad crossing by the roundhouse. The roundhouse is where the locomotive will turn in for the night getting ready for the next morning. This local L39 runs...

Article #67: Orange Motor Car/Speeder joins the Layout

The Danville County Railroad HO Scale layout has a few motor cars already that operate across the layout, but another new one has been added to the layout and it is a Fairmont Speeder in a nice orange paint scheme. The photo here shows the speeder right outside of it's shed with a man who is the operator sitting on the side of the motor car. This motor car is for display only so i can't move but it is nice to see when other trains are running on the layout. This speeder does not have any windows so it is completely open air if you will. There are also other buildings that surround this speeder as you can see in the background. This is a 2nd angle of the motor car and it's operator. It is an interesting view looking down on the motor car as the operator looks on at the yard in Grovemont. This speeder is one of many pieces of rolling stock on display in and around the Grovemont Yard.

Article #66: Model Trains with Backdrops and ways it can be done

This new article is all about doing backdrops with model trains and we will go over 1 way it could be done and the way it was done in the photo above. The photo above shows Alexander Railroad S3 #6 pulling local C53 with a nice blue sky going through a field. This photo in the background is a composite photo not originally a part of the photo showing the locomotive on the layout. This can be a good way of doing backdrops where you erase the background of the original photo and if 2 pictures like this fit together. The angle here is more so an oncoming angle where you can see the background well.
