The Danville County Railroad Train Layout

One day at the DVCRR Grovemont Yard there were 3 cabooses (Norfolk Southern Railway, New York Central & Clinchfield) in the 3 yard tracks. Workers Will and Marcus had some guessing to do on whether these were at the yard by chance or if it was a caboose show. Will: Is this a caboose show or something? Marcus: No, but i know what you mean. So many cabooses are here. Will: I've never seen this many at once. Marcus: I have an idea, how about we have a caboose show here at the yard. Will: Cool Idea. All because i mentioned it. Marcus: That and the idea entered my mind Will: Alright, good deal. Will and Marcus both wanted credit for the idea of a caboose show. But both were on the same track, just like all of us on the DVCRR.

  The most impressive steam locomotive on the DVCRR is the Santa Fe Blue Goose 4-6-4 Hudson #3460. In the photo above it is sitting beside the Grovemont Passenger Station for visitors to come and take a look at. For the most part it is a display piece but at tomes will be lashed up with a couple of passenger cars or a diesel locomotive sent out of the Grovemont Yard.

On the DVCRR track worker Jimmy has been shoveling trackside for most of the day. he started around 7am through 12 noon. He then talks to another track worker josh who is also close by.             Jimmy:  Hey Josh i'm out shoveling      Josh: Ok, how long you gonna be out there?      Jimmy: 7am to now, it's getting hot out here. Could you take over?     Josh: Im flagging down the crossing. I would do double duty in that case.    Jimmy: Oh yeah, my shift is up. See ya! Even though they talked back and forth, the situation played itself out. Just like most things on the DVCRR. Also steam locomotive #50 is behind the track worker Jimmy.

 On the Danville County Railroad Layout, the workers work really hard and that shows in the photos below. The engines that were out and running today were E Unit #6 in a green and yellow paint scheme as well as steam locomotive #50. #6 which is what we are focusing on first ran bright and early on coal train #744 and #50 was working later on. Inside the cab of #6 are Jay and Mark ready to get the coal train rolling. Jay: Alright let's get this train rolling Mark: Ok, i have been ready for a while now. Jay: I know, i had to check out the fuel tanks and stuff like that. Mark: I look forward to putting a new light in the engine Jay: I agree. Mark: We are on the move, let's go. The Coal Train is now on the move as it is approaching the main crossing at grovemont towards it's destination point. Jay & Will later on worked inside the cab of #50 putting a new whistle inside as well as checking the firebox. This was Jay's 2nd duty of the day so he really worked hard. Everyon...

  This article is about steam locomotives double heading either on light power moves or real freight trains across the DVCRR System. The photos here show 0-4-0 #50 with its engineer along with 0-6-0 06237 heading toward the grovemont yard on a light power move. On the DVCRR multiple steam engines double head some of the time, but there are only 3 steam locomotives on the whole DVCRR layout and these 2 make up almost that whole list. 06237 was really pushing #50 hard back to Grovemont. A smaller locomotive either steam or diesel needs a helper a lot of the time. Both locomotives pushing with the same amount of power.

  This article is all about conductors on the trains of the Danville County Railroad. The photo above shows Union Pacific U-Boat #124 going by with the conductor in the conductor's seat going by Grovemont. This is very common on the layout when you look at conductors and engineers inside these HO scale locomotives.

The article here is #54 and it is about being inside a tunnel right beside the grovemont yard on the DVCRR Layout. The photos here show GMD 0-6-0 06237 sitting inside the tunnel with its headlight turned on waiting for a signal to turn to clear. All of the trains that go through on the DVCRR Layout go through this tunnel. This tunnel is very unique as well because it is a house shaped roof instead of the usual round shape.
