This article is all about a model train with a flashing rear end device or (FRED). This is sort of uncommon when it comes to model trains and they are not seen that much. The photo above shows a coal train on the DVCRR layout and a red circular light is on the back with a red light being lit towards the train and its light. This just 1 way it could be done. This is good especially when doing night photos or videos. It wont show up as much when there are a lot of lights on in the room. Any coupler can hold a circular light like this.
In this new article we will be looking at Penn Central Bay Window caboose #4930. In bay window cabooses, crew that were monitoring trains sat in the middle of the caboose in a section of wall that projected from the side of the caboose. This type of caboose resulted in a better view of the side of trains. The photo above shows the caboose sitting in track 1 of the grovemont yard. Here is another view of the caboose.
