Short Story #5: The Alco has arrived

 

The Danville County Railroad has a new locomotive on it's locomotive roster and it is Alco S3 #6. It has been painted into the Alexander Railroad Paint Scheme with it's green & yellow colors. It has also been maintained and ready to go for operation as it sits on the mainline track ready for a crew to pick it up.


The side of the locomotive looks excellent where you can the the number 6 under the window on the locomotive cab, as well as the start of the yellow stripe which goes all the way across the engine on both sides. This engine can switch out any car it wants to on the DVCRR, so it's easy to see why it will be very common on these trains coming up.

This newest article on the Danville County Railroad Layout is A Night a Grovemont. You will see pics at night at different locations along the layout. From the passenger station to the roundhouse, you will see a few trains as they make their night runs.  Western Maryland #20 on Light Move   Sitting right beside the passenger station is Western Maryland GP7 #20 ready to head out of the yard at Grovemont on a light move. The light move is essentially a work train headed down the line towards one of the other yard's where the trains originate The platform of the station is lit up shining right onto the train. It will meet a local freight up the line after departing. After the Go7 had gone by, we see Alco S3 #6 pulling a local freight back towards the yard at Grovemont. On this photo is is hauling 1 boxcar past the main railroad crossing by the roundhouse. The roundhouse is where the locomotive will turn in for the night getting ready for the next morning. Locomotive Review #5: Rio Grande 3980

  In this locomotive review #5 we are looking at Rio Grande Locomotive 3980. The photo above shows the locomotive sitting beside the passenger station as well as one of the display trains. This locomotive is mainly used on local trains. 3980 going by one of the railroad crossings.

Locomotive Review #4: Seaboard Coast Line Rail Diesel Car 201

  In this Locomotive Review #4 we look at Seaboard Coast Line Rail Diesel Car #201. This is an RDC-1 type. The photo above shows the RDC heading by the railroad crossing near the roundhouse heading out of the yard area. This is currently the only RDC on the layout.
